“We’ve got premium genetics—the next generation of a high-yielding trait and a seed treatment system to help protect and increase yields,” Kim Magin, soybean product manager, said. “By putting the three of these together, we’ve got the best-yielding soybean package out there.”

Magin is referring to Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans with Acceleron. Monsanto announced on June 29, that this premium system is showing an early season performance advantage over competitive soybean products and first-generation traits in many areas of the United States.

“We are very excited to see the early season performance of our Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield with Acceleron soybeans over our competitors,” Lisa Flynn soy traits marketing manager, said. “The pictures we are receiving from the field really demonstrate the benefits of the Acceleron seed treatment.”

The Acceleron seed treatment gives the farmer a marked advantage against seed-borne and soil-borne diseases and early-season insect pests. This will be extremely beneficial to most of the Corn Belt that often experiences wet weather. “Many of our farmers are already talking about the better stands and fuller, healthier plants they are experiencing with their Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield with Acceleron,” Flynn said.

This is the first year of commercialization for Genuity and Acceleron. These technologies will serve as base platforms underpinning the company’s sustainability goal of doubling soybean yields by 2030, compared to a base year of 2000.

“Top-yield performance is driven by our extensive gene mapping and insertion technology,” Flynn said. “What this means to the farmer is the opportunity to  experience more beans per pod, more beans per plant, more bushels per acre and ultimately a greater potential of higher profits.”

Today, slightly more than one-third of the soybean seed planted in the United States is treated. This compares to nearly all of the corn and cotton seed planted in the United States.

The value and expected use of seed treatments in soybeans are expected to increase with the introduction of new soybean varieties and traits like Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield.

”Creating increased farmer success is our ultimate goal,” Magin said. “This premium system can deliver top-end yield potential now and in the future.”

"New soybean technologies..." - since when was food a technology? It seems that Monsanto is hiding behind the smoke and mirrors of corruption and degradation to human health and the environment. The "pledge" of this company promotes transparency, so why did people get cancer from drinking milk that contained bovine growth hormones? (created by Monsanto) What about integrity, respect, and dialogue? I can almost gaurentee that this comment won't become part of any "dialogue," because of course, Monsanto hates being exposed as what it really is. Monsanto is nothing more than what it started as, a chemical company, which is now contaminating food and the environment around the world. At least now there is a growing movement involving the media, the public, and even the government, to put an end to the corruption and greed of this sad company.
