It's the food on our tables and the clothes on our backs - agriculture touches our lives every day, but very few people get the opportunity to get to know the people that are part of it. America's Heartland, a nationally broadcast program about agriculture, is remedying that and telling the stories of the American farmer.

The show, currently in its fifth season, began in 2005 and since then has aired more than 400 stories spanning all 50 states about U.S. farmers, ranchers, their ways of life and the products they produce for the world. The show airs on PBS, but the weekly episodes are also available online, both on AmericasHeartland.org and on YouTube. In addition, the show has a Facebook page, as well as a Twitter account and blog that all help tell the story of agriculture in the US.

This week, episode 520 takes you to Colorado to learn about potato production, Kansas City to learn about urban agriculture, and Florida to meet a young farm couple teaching people how important agriculture is. You’ll also meet David Wright, a man with an inspirational story about turning tragedy into possibilities.
